The first Saturday in August was super for many reasons for the Fletchers Group, but none more so than being able to celebrate with our entire team, after not having had the opportunity for over two years.
Our Annual Awards evening for 2022 was held at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and this year, more than 350 of our staff (both past and present), their partners, as well as longstanding clients and suppliers gathered to celebrate the top offices and individual accolades from across our entire network of offices.
The night rivalled the excitement that was felt back in 2019, when the Fletchers Group celebrated our Centenary milestone at Melbourne Town Hall.
Doubling as a celebration to honour the remarkable career of our beloved former Executive Chairman, Rob Fletcher, the emotion in the room was palpable, making this perennial stand-out event even more memorable.
A career spanning half a century, Rob is equal parts respected and adored within this industry, as evidenced in the outpouring of emotion felt in the room on the night. He was recognised with the Inaugural Rob Fletcher Award named in his honour, a wonderful way to commemorate his outstanding legacy.
Taking to the stage, Rob was made to wait until the extended applause dulled down and people again took their seats. When he finally spoke, he echoed the words of the great Neale Daniher,
"Very few of us find a calling or passion
that crosses with a vocation
Let alone one that lasts a lifetime".
Rob then said, "in my case, that's so true, and sums up my career perfectly".
In 2020, Fletchers lost one of our own in Graeme Keogh and we were honoured when his entire family could be with us as the Inaugural Team Player Award was inducted in his name. The winner of this award, Inspections Consultant John Zolis, accepted the honour so beautifully. "Although I never had the privilege of meeting Graeme, my own research reveals that Graeme was supremely respected by all, that he had a caring nature, that he was kind, supportive and dependable of which I am now more inspired than ever to follow suit, for many years to come, in commemoration of Graeme."
The ambience created in the Great Hall provided for an outstanding backdrop to our event with Kattylizmusic & MaxonSax from Unplugged Entertainment taking the night to a new level.
With a full dance floor and fuller hearts we celebrated with each other after all that's been both endured and achieved over the past two years. Our thanks go to our team, event partners, sponsors, and suppliers who without you, a celebration like this would not be possible.
