19th February 2019 / Prue Fletcher: Prue’s Picks: SWIMMING POOL TRENDS FOR 2019

When designing your pool, there's plenty to think about.

Colour, shape and positioning all play equally important roles. Having been involved in the creative side of a few exquisite pools this year, here is what I believe will be leading the charge for design features in 2019!

Indoor/Outdoor Effect
Ryan Booth from @aquacon_pools agrees that owners are thinking outside the square when it comes to integrating pools with the home. 'Our clients are wanting them to visually form part of the living and dining spaces', where tranquil shades of blue in the back drop act like pieces of artwork and allow parents to keep a closer eye on the kids too.

Wooden Pools
Have you ever seen a Wooden Pool?
Recently @thedesignory posted an image of a Byron Bay project they will undertake next year with exactly that!
My tip is that with the current trends in timber features, this is the next big thing!

Removal of the 'Pool Boy'
Automation is key. Like @apple smartphones, @google home and @irobotaustralia, your pool will now clean itself, heat up and play your favourite tunes at the touch of a button or in some cases, on voice command. The advancement in this area is mind blowing!

The Baja Shelf
It seems a lot of spas are being made redundant in the wake of the Baja shelf, a flat shallow area located at one end of the pool. The perfect spot for adults to prop a lounge chair and observe the kids while they splash around and play.
