9th March 2019 / Prue Fletcher: CURATING YOUR HOME FOR SALE

Whether you're engaging a professional stylist or trying your hat at staging your home yourself, there are a few golden rules when it comes to the "do's and dont's" of property styling.

Having worked with some incredibly talented creatives over the years @aliwaightstylist, @stylingspacesmelbourne & @goldchalk (a nod to the masters), I've managed to pick up on many of their trade secrets! Things like short cuts on how to make the most effortlessly luxe bed or how to anchor that show-stopping piece of art. Read on for more...

Colour & Artwork
When styling a room, ALWAYS chose the artwork first, furniture second and then decorative items to blend both. Be sure to pick out only one or two hero colours and accent them throughout your room, anchoring in your artwork as you go.

Fake Or Foliage
Roses be gone. A sales campaign can often take up to four weeks so make it easier for yourself and opt for hardy greenery like Eucalypt or natives. Changing the water regularly will definitely help them last the distance - anything to keep the cumulative costs down! If choosing fake foliage, always blend with real plants and try and steer clear of the cheaper options, making sure you're only selecting imitation for small areas like bathrooms and bedside tables.

Short Cuts
First impressions count and walking into a room that feels effortlessly luxe is a styling skill that can be easily mastered. Head to my saved lnstagram stories, search under 'Organising & Cleaning' for a step-by-step guide that will give your bedroom an instant LIFT.
