5th March 2019 / Prue Fletcher: PRUE'S PICKS: COASTAL DECOR & DESIGN

Step aside Hamptons, we have a new design trend in town and it's here to stay - Beach Chic. Bringing the best of the big city lights to the bay, it's not your traditional look and feel 'beach house'.

The style feels very much like a white-wash Moroccan Riad, with pool and landscape designs resembling something straight out of a Slim Aaron's photograph. Destination stays like @halyconhouse &
@the_bower_byron_bay are quickly becoming favourites amongst A-Listers and fast popping up on our insta feeds under hashtag #beachhouseinspo

Here's some design tips to help you on your way to becoming more 'Beach Chic' ...

Patterns & Colour
Don't be afraid to use patterns with what's otherwise an all-white bohemian love affair! @jatanainteriors do some incredible decorative tiles that really draw-in your focus, like their work featured throughout @theatlanticbyronbay. Also, the use of Bessa blocks can really shake up that white-wash which adds a whole different layer.

Travel lnspo
Draw on your travel inspiration collected over the years. If you're struggling to call on your imagination, use search terms such as #Riads, #WhiteTilePool, #HalyconHouse to get the creative juices flowing!

Textures & Choice
A few ocean-inspired items are okay, but don't go overboard. Instead, focus on the different textures in your home. Your choices want to make you instantly feel relaxed. Opt for light weight materials like sheer curtains and high-quality bed linen (@the_covercollective), adding to that ethereal look and feel. Team this with sisal carpet and some rough sawn furniture and you're away!
