16th October 2019 / Prue Fletcher: Top Tips to Spring into Good Health this Season

After what felt like one of the longest and coldest winters we have been experienced in a long time, I think everyone will join me in welcoming all of the glorious gifts that Spring has to offer!

New growth, new life and when it comes to holistic health, Spring is a season which really enables us to set the tone and make clear intentions for the year ahead. So, join me in saying goodbye to Winter and reignite our internal glow as we set the momentum and launch into 2020.

Here are my top tips to help you Spring into good health:

Awaken

The sun is up earlier and stays with us longer, so it's time to make the most of the lengthier days! Rise early in the magic of pre-dawn and give yourself every chance to bask in its glory so you can start the day in the freshest, most positive way.

Digital Detox

Make leaving your phone in the kitchen part of your bedtime routine. Research has found that exposure to blue light before sleep suppresses the production of melatonin (the hormone that enables us to sleep), throwing our biological clock - the circadian rhythm - out of whack.

I challenge you to go one step further and avoid reaching for your phone as the first thing you do when you wake up. Notice the difference in your mind when the first connection you have in your day is with your husband, wife, children or even the person who makes your morning coffee. The clarity and happiness you will feel from within when you start the day connecting with 'real' people does wonders for your soul.

Wholeness

Consider what you're putting into your body. 'There is no such thing as "junk food", there is junk and then there is food' @drlibbyweaver. Limit your alcohol intake to weekends and start the day with a cup of lemon in hot water. You will soon start to see and feel the benefits of both clearer skin and mind.

Release

If you want to welcome more goodness into your life, you must first make way for it. Writing down one bad habit which you would like to get rid of and replacing it with something you would like to see start is an easy way to bring about more good into your world. Most research suggests that it takes between 30 and 66 days to break a habit, however practicing this process for up to two weeks is a good place to start.

Love and live well!
