7th April 2020 / Beth Oleyar: The Reserve Bank of Australia keeps interest rates on hold 0.25%

INTEREST RATES | The Reserve Bank of Australia has announced it will leave interest rates on hold at the historic low of 0.25%.

Just weeks following the RBA's decision to reduce the cash rate from 0.5% to 0.25% in an impromptu meeting last month, industry experts predict it will remain at this level for some time.

In a statement, Governor, Phillip Lowe, said that 'the coronavirus remains first and foremost a very major public health issues, but it is also having very significant effects on economies and financial systems around the world.'
