Industry insiders claim that For Sale By Owner (FSBO) failure rates range from 75% all the way up to 95%.*
I cringe when I see a home for sale on Gumtree, don't you? There is a place to sell your second hand Hunter boots and a place to sell your biggest asset...and it's definitely not side-by-side.
Spending your precious time and hard-earned money marketing your home on your own; from responding to every inquiry at the drop of a hat, having to make yourself available whenever a buyer wants to come through, while handling objections about your personal space (Ugh! How uncomfortable), negotiating finance and then navigating your way through the often complex waters of sale to settlement is troublesome enough as it is. Add that to your full time job, dropping the kids off to school and extra-curricular activities and being interrupted when you're just wanting to enjoy an afternoon watching the mighty Hawks beat the Bulldogs (wishful thinking) and it's not sounding all that attractive, is it?
It's takes all of this and much more to successfully market and sell a property. It's a skilled profession and one which has the potential to cost you thousands of dollars, if not handled correctly.
In many areas of life, I try and live by the rule 'buy once, buy well'.
Same applies to selling.
