14th December 2021 / Sarah Lowry: Changing of the Guard

Now over 100 years old, Fletchers has traded through global military conflicts, changes in government, both recession and boom times and now, even a global pandemic.

If life over the past two years in particular has taught us anything, it is that nothing in life is certain or forever, and that we must be adaptable and resilient. Change can be challenging, but it allows us to move forward and experience new and exciting things.

With that in mind, change is once again upon the team at Fletchers. At the end of 2021, Rob Fletcher will be stepping down as our beloved Executive Chairman. Since his start in 1970 cutting the vines around the office's outdoor toilet, Rob has been the strong custodian of the Fletcher family brand for decades.

Often described as the "the nicest guy in real estate", what you see is what you get with Rob. He has been loved and appreciated by both repeat and referral clients, our suppliers, local community and of course, each and every Fletchers staff member – both past and present.

Whilst Rob is looking forward to having more time to spend with family and, in particular, his beautiful grandchildren, he will continue to assist the Fletchers team, remaining available to work with his strong client following and assist in a consulting role to the wider Fletchers Group.

When Fletchers reached the 100-year milestone, Rob commented: "What I hope to leave behind, are the foundations of a successful business that will continue to grow. A business that offers a secure lifestyle for our employees, a point of difference for our clients, and maybe a few more generations to continue on the name".

We certainly believe that Rob has achieved this and more, and we are very grateful for all that he has done for the company, brand and team, and the way in which he approached his tenure as Executive Chairman.

Of course, with Rob stepping down, this leaves some very big shoes to fill. We are thrilled to announce that from 1 January 2022, our own Jeremy Desmier with over 20 years at Fletchers will step into the role of Executive Chairman.

Jeremy is a well-regarded Fletchers Director and member of the local community, with decades of real estate experience. In the words of one of his colleague's, "Jeremy really knows the business of real estate, and is always willing to share his knowledge and experience for the benefit of his colleagues and clients".

As a long-time Director of the business, Jeremy while remaining an active agent, will have increased involvement in the strategic direction of Fletchers, and a more visible profile for the company in the media.

We are thrilled that Jeremy has accepted this appointment and look forward to seeing his continued positive impact on the Fletchers brand.

One of the unique and positive attributes about Fletchers is that it's a family brand, with a strong family heritage. We are thrilled to announce that from 1 January 2022, Rob's sons, Mark and Nick Fletcher, currently Partners within the Fletchers Group, will become Directors.

As fourth generation members of the Fletchers family, both Mark and Nick have real estate running through their veins! They are thrilled to be taking on a greater level of leadership and responsibility as Directors and securing the continuation of the Fletchers name. The Directors Group is looking forward to their input and the contribution they will make to the future of Fletchers.

We hope you will join us in thanking Rob for his dedication and contribution and to welcome him, Jeremy, Mark and Nick in their new roles.
