19th May 2023 / Prue Fletcher: 3 Australian Artists at the Top of their Game

Art and culture in Melbourne go hand-in-hand, yet when relating it back to Real Estate terms it goes beyond adding color and decoration, artwork can breathe life and humanity into any living space.

Amongst all of our mass-produced trinkets, artwork stands out as a reminder of the time, effort, and skill that went into creating it. Whether you meet the artist or sense their personality through brush strokes, the experience is personal and unique.

If you're in search of art that resonates with you, here we explore 3 of our favorite creatives. Their work is different and unique, and each a celebration of the incredible talent we have on our doorstep.

Enjoy x

Carmel Jenkin

Meet Carmel Jenkin - the Melbourne-based artist who beautifully blends figuration and abstraction to create stunning pieces. Her art isn't just aesthetically pleasing, it's also deeply personal. Losing her mother 31 years ago, Carmel turned to painting as a form of self-guided therapy. Her first work was a portrait of her mother which has evolved into a series of figures - a testament to the unbreakable bond between mother and daughter.

Carmel specializes in the female form, infusing her pieces with personal experiences that have shaped her relationship with her own body. Creating nudes using oil, acrylic, ink, and charcoal, she manages to blur the lines between reality and abstraction. Her admiration for the female body through works capacity to tell a story is contagious and will make you look at art in a whole new light.
