19th October 2010: Suite Dreams

Sleeping spaces are becoming increasingly versatile.

In addition to being a place to sleep, read or watch movies, many bedrooms of today are big on space and storage, with a roomy ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe included to pamper and reduce stress levels when we wake up.

Designers are also coming up with shelves above the bed for easy access to everyday items and plush, elongated ottomans at the bottom of the bed for laying out clothes.

Meanwhile smart companies are introducing elements like canopied beds (for kids) or dramatic headboards (for parents) as well as all manner of interchangeable wardrobes.

But by far the best way to dress a bedroom is to fill it with your favourite things – books, photographs, CDs and a bunch of flowers from the market. A bedroom, after all, is the place where you should feel most at home. Where you can shut the door on the world, and truly relax. Your sleep depends on it.
