In 2021, 23 July will mark one of the most challenging years to date for our dedicated Property Management team, yet it is also a day to celebrate the growth and achievement of its members as both individuals, and as a group.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put an enormous amount of pressure on the Victorian rental market and our team of Property Managers have had to transition quickly to handle the largest rental reform in Victorian history, with over 130 legislative changes to the tenancy Act. They have done so with grace, whilst almost overnight having to convert to a remote working environment and transition to an almost fully paperless industry.

The last twelve months, in particular, have been so challenging, with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on both renters and rental providers, as well as the significant legislative changes that have been put into effect. In a recent report published by BeyondBlue, "two in three contacts to the Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service are now coming from Victoria." We know that nationally, as the economic and jobs impact of this pandemic unfolds, more and more Victorians will need support when it comes to housing affordability, our Property Management Department has seen a surplus of renters and rental providers fall into financial hardship, and have not only had to navigate complex tenancy agreements but also highly charged emotional situations.

In addition to the pandemic, they have had to learn and train in the 130 reforms to the Residential Tenancies Act introduced at the end of March 2021, it has certainly been a challenging 18 months.
