Meet the Team | Spring Chen

Spring Chen has catapulted to the top and is showing no signs of slowing down. Formerly a member of Victorian's No.1 Sales team, she gained firsthand experience on what it truly takes to succeed in Real Estate and provide exceptional service to her clients. Now, the No.1 agent in Surrey Hills, Spring has forged her own path and with the support of her husband, two daughters & entire Fletchers group – the best is yet to come!

Why Real Estate?

I have always been captivated by the world of real estate. Market trends, the intricacies of buying and selling homes, I am genuinely interested in it all. Not only do I find the process fulfilling, but I enjoy the ever-changing nature of the industry. I love meeting new people and helping clients achieve their real estate goals. Becoming an agent has allowed me to leverage my strong interpersonal skills & make a genuine career out of my passion.

What was the most important piece of advice you were given as a young girl?

Find the best agent in the field and learn from them. Ignore the dollars in beginning. A longstanding, successful career will flow from knowledge, the relationships you maintain and the results you work hard to achieve.

That, as well as networking and communication skills are crucial. Building a brand based on reliability, honesty & professionalism can contribute significantly to how long your career spans in this industry. And that's why I am at Fletchers. 105 years at the top, the market may change but their values remain unchanged.

Fletchers are entering their 105th year serving families within the local community. Tell us, what does 'family' mean to you?

Family is my biggest source of emotional support, love and understanding. If I am a big ship, family is the port for me to rest, refuel and get ready to depart again. If I am the branches with green leaves, my family is the root and trunk whom provide me with the nutrients I need to thrive. My girls and husband are my purpose. We share the same values and beliefs.

We grow together, learn together and strive to become better together.

As a home owner, what's been your experience buying/selling in the past and what can our clients expect from Spring Chen?

I have a deep understanding & love of the local Surrey Hills market. Through being mentored in what was once the number 1 Victorian Sales team, I have worked incredibly hard to pave my own path and become the number 1 agent in Surrey Hills today. I have an extremely client-centred approach, ably supported by an incredible team, which allows me to provide honest and transparent guidance to my vendors always ensuring they are poised in the best possible position to achieve the highest possible outcome. Being solution focussed has given me the ability to pivot in an ever changing market and I believe this to have been crucial for my clients success.

What's your take on the property market as we close out 2023?

Looking ahead to 2024, here is my perspective on the market: To gain valuable insights into the property market, I highly suggest seeking guidance from experts such as real estate agents, market analysts, and trusted sources for up-to-date data and projections. As professionals, we take into account various factors to deliver well-informed opinions on local market trends. It pays to remember that economic indicators effect major markets, we are often selling in micro markets, where the demand for blue chip real estate remains strong. I think on the whole, things like employment rates, GDP growth, and interest rates, has the potential to shift some markets, however with the population growth and influx of new migrants, we can expect high demand and potential supply shortages to continue in the city of Boroondara. Positive signs for people looking to enter the market.

What is driving demand in the Eastern suburbs? Are buyers in this area more inclined to make permanent purchases or invest?

Factors include population growth and a significant influx of Asian migrants, particularly from China and India. Additionally, there is more competition from first-time home buyers in the apartment sector, as they take advantage of investors not currently re-entering the market, well as families looking to purchase properties within desirable school zones and upgrade their current living situation.

What excites you about working for the Fletchers Group?

I admire how the company culture hasn't changed across it's 105 year journey. I always feel supported to achieve my absolute best and am not afraid to challenge static boundaries and improve my business. The opportunities the wider team provides in terms of mentorship and learnings is second to none and the people I work with every day, who hold the same values as me, are just one big extended family.

What keeps you busy outside of real estate?

Keeping my mindset fresh is very important to me. I feel a duty to my clients to show up for them no matter if it be their first open for inspection or Auction day. I approach each meeting the same. Pilates and personal training keep my body strong and I love to balance this with travel, trying different restaurants and spending time with my family to keep my heart & soul balanced.

And lastly, being a mother of two, what would you like your legacy to be?

Having two daughters, it's important to me that they see me stand up for my values and be of good, consistent character. That I model to them to always continue learning and to have both a good community and social responsibility for all that you do in this world.
