Chitra Aiyar is the Executive Director of the Sadie Nash Leadership Project, a lawyer and long-time social justice organiser. Her 2019 Ted Talk, 'How to Build a Community When You Feel Isolated' went viral where she delivered a strong message, one which remains extremely relevant today.
Her 9-minute talk highlights the importance of coming together as one, how through lifting others we will in-fact elevate ourselves and that when using comparison you lose connection as 'it is not simultaneously possible within our brains to compare and connect with each other at the same time.'
So, as we begin to slowly re-emerge from the depths of isolation, all having experienced different levels of challenges and anxieties, accept that this normal and use this commonality as a stimulus to connect with each other, pick up the phone or, even better start the process of safely re-connecting in person with your colleagues again.
Start thinking about what we can all do to help each other win that next listing or get that next buyer over the line. There are so many take always from this short clip, I really hope it motivates you to come back together, stronger as a team!
