24th December 2019 / Sarah Lowry: Fletchers Donates to Melbourne City Mission for Christmas Charity Drive

In the lead up to Christmas, Fletchers partnered with Melbourne City Mission, coordinating a company-wide charity drive to help make a difference to those who need it most.

We put a call out to all our staff, clients, friends and family members for their help, asking for donations of toiletries and sanitary items for homeless men and women across Melbourne. The items all go a long way in assisting at risk men and women who may have fled domestic violence or experienced extreme poverty.

It is overwhelming to learn that over 22,000 Victorians are homeless on any given night and that 6,000 of those are under 25 years of age. Established in 1854, Melbourne City Mission provides a range of services to young people, adults and families who are currently experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness. With holistic, trauma-informed support, Melbourne City Mission not only looks at housing, but also caters to the physical, social and emotional needs of each person.

As the donations came in across our office network, we were thrilled with the response.

After being sorted into over 100 individual toiletry packs, the donations were delivered by our team in the week before Christmas.

Christine Diamond, Head of Philanthropic Funding at Melbourne City Mission, said 'the staff were absolutely over the moon to receive these and we can't thank you enough'.

As a family based real estate agency, we understand the importance of helping those in need and hope that we were able to bring some job to men, women and families across Melbourne over the festive season.
