A bridge over a creek that runs through 11 Jeffery St, fed by Blackburn Lake.

A rare architectural escape that features a bridge across a bubbling creek fed by Blackburn Lake, and is visited by over 160 species of bird, has entered the market.

The David Edelman-designed home at 11 Jeffery St is listed with a price guide of $1.75-$1.85 million and is set to go under the hammer on June 1.

Modernist features throughout the home are highlighted by glorious expansive windows that capture the urban oasis surrounding Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.

No. 11 Jeffery St, Blackburn is listed at a price guide of $1.75-$1.85 million.

The home was designed by architect David Edelman.

Jeffery St is one of several heritage-listed streets alongside the sanctuary, thanks largely to native trees and over 165 bird species, including bell miners and regent honeyeaters.

The four-bedroom mid-century home is set on a block of 1450sq m, with the back garden an important part of the area's ecology, with migratory birds regular visitors to the lake.

Most rooms in the home have floor-to-ceiling windows.

Cathedral ceilings with timber panelling feature prominently.

"The streets extending outwards from the lake are an integral part of the ecology of the lake area, being corridors of movement, particularly for birds," a Heritage Victoria statement of significance reads.

"These private streets have resisted the pressures of normal streetmaking requirements and retain a quiet, almost rural character unique in Melbourne. They demonstrate an excellent integration between the natural and man-made environments."

Take the bridge across to the backyard.

A great place to listen to various birdsongs.

Fletchers Blackburn director Ben Williams said the street was highly coveted for its heritage listing.

"There are fairly tight controls on the removal of native trees and any subdivision that people might be thinking of doing," Mr Williams said.

"I think I'm correct in saying there are no townhouses on that street."

The median house price in Blackburn is $1,297,500, according to CoreLogic data.

Separate living rooms all look out on tranquil greenscapes.

Gas cooking and ample cupboard space in the kitchen.
