12th July 2009: Feature Property – 271 Pakington Street, Newtown

271 Pakington Street, Newtown

Majestic and Imposing Historical Building

Proudly standing on one of the higher points of Newtown this masterful design is without doubt one of the city's greatest achievements in design and restoration. Originally the municipal offices it is one of those bold, ashlar finished and imposing two-storey buildings that celebrate our historical past.

The lathed double wooden doors open into the vestibule; the dark, cherry wood finish to the shellacked flooring reflects the grandeur of the living zone.
Firstly there is a large office on the ground floor enough for several staff accompanied by the cavernous yet beautiful dressing chamber opposite. On alighting the stairs to the main bedroom it is apparent that no expense has been spared in quality fitting or finish reflected in the enormous mirrors, with a gymnasium, a freestanding spa, and concealed bathroom/shower.

The broad and proud living zone rises above the steps of the entrance, with carpet embedded supporting the sumptuous lounge whilst opposite under the towering embellished ceiling is the grandest of kitchens, replete in European appliances. This total area is surrounded by four meter high slim line doors reaching for the sky, providing access to the private northern 'boat deck' resplendent in curved decking, a central waterfall gently splashes on river pebbles.
