12th March 2019 / Rob Fletcher: AUCTION SNAPSHOT | 9 & 10 March 2019

With last weekend's auction results showing a clearance rate of 55%, it would seem the risk of auctioning on a long weekend has paid off for more than half of homeowners across Melbourne. Herald Sun reporter, Samantha Landy said, 'as it stands now, the clearance rate is Melbourne's highest reported in months'.

'With auction volumes set to spring back up to 847 this week', industry experts believe a pattern is now forming, as clearance rates across Melbourne have been sitting above the 50 per cent mark for five straight weeks in a row. When compared with nine-consecutive weeks below 50 per cent last Spring, Australian Head of Real Estate, Geoff White, said, 'we are nearly 9 per cent up in clearance rate and generally, it speaks well going forward'.

Hosting about one in ten of Melbourne's auctions this past Labor Day long weekend, the city of Monash included 'some of the city's most popular listings', according to the REA Group, who reported that listings in Monash had 'thousands [of] eyeballs on realestate.com.au' last week. One agent said, 'there feels like a bit of a rush to try and get to the market prior to Easter, given Easter is later this year than it was last year'. For the latest listings in Monash and the surrounding area, don't hesitate to contact the team at Fletchers Waverley.

In Fletchers news, 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom Balwyn North property at 9 Adeney Street was sold through Tim Heavyside of Fletchers Canterbury over the weekend. Capturing views of the Dandenong and Kinglake Ranges, the original Art Deco residence is located just around the corner from the shopping and dining precinct of Balwyn East Village.
