A showstopping house overlooking the surf at Ocean Grove has set a house record price for the Geelong region.
Buyers from Melbourne paid $6.3 million for the six-bedroom house at 91 Orton St.
The four-level family home of Ocean Grove builder Mark Le Maistre eclipsed the previous record held in Queenscliff by $300,000.
Fletchers, Ocean Grove agent Liam Rock said the campaign targeted and Melbourne and international buyers.
It went vital in October after the Addy revealed the four-year-old house with a rooftop spa and a waterslide was destined to smash the record.
"It was an absolute privilege to be involved with the sale of such an amazing home that has had so much thought and love into the whole design and build," Mr Rock said.
"It was a pleasure working alongside the vendors, Mark and Em, who took on board all of our suggestions and marketing ideas, and really put their faith in us.
"We had an enormous response to the campaign and had a number of genuine buyers looking to purchase the property."
Mr Rock said the buyers planned to live there permanently and enjoy the amazing views.
They were drawn to the lifestyle concept, the outdoor tranquillity and multipurpose backyard.
Positioned between the beach and main street, they saw the ultimate entertaining aspect for family and friends, Mr Rock said.
The region's coastline is the biggest attraction for prestige real estate with the top sellers above $5 million all enjoying incredible water views.
Mr Le Maistre said the best position in Ocean Grove was key to the value.
"You have to understand that you need to honour that position with the best building and look to increase your asset's value," he said.
The house features a waterfall in the entrance foyer, a glass lift, theatre room, gym, two kitchens and three separate loungerooms all connected via bridges, creating voids throughout the house.
There's a heated 20m swimming pool with a waterslide, a weatherproof TV, full cricket pitch, basketball court, trampoline, gas fireplace and barbecue area.
The view from the rooftop terrace takes in the coast and GMHBA Stadium's lights.
Mr Le Maistre said Mr Rock had found buyers prepared to pay more than $7 million, though they wanted a 12-month settlement. The sale involved a 30-day settlement.
"The market and price was never an issue — Liam was able to generate plenty of people. We just had to choose the best offer for us."
The third-generation Ocean Grove builder says they will take stock before securing the next block to start their next project.
Le Maistre homes have a distinctive style in Ocean Grove. Mr Le Maistre said he believes the firm has held the town's price record 30 times over the years.
