Belgrave, Belgrave South & Belgrave Heights Suburb Guide

Belgrave, Belgrave South & Belgrave Heights Suburb Profiles

Ideally located for the forays into the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, Belgrave is a prosperous and vibrant suburb located 35 kilometres east of Melbourne’s CBD. Home to over 4,000 residents, Belgrave is one of the larger townships in the area and the array of amenities and schools caters for many residents living in the Yarra Ranges.

Belgrave’s most notable attraction is the heritage steam operated Puffing Billy train which travels through 24 kilometres of rainforest, semi-urban development and rural farmland. The 1000 Steps walk, Sherbrooke Forest and Sherbrook Falls also attract an abundance of tourists.

Well serviced by public transport, Belgrave has a railway station and comprehensive bus service. Families have the choice of sending their children to a variety of different schools in Belgrave and neighbouring suburbs.

Located next to Belgrave is the small residential precinct of Belgrave Heights. Belgrave Heights is generously endowed with parklands and waterways including Birdland Reserve which is a great community park now open to the public for bushwalking, picnicking, sightseeing and horse riding. There are a couple of schools in Belgrave Heights and a bus service to neighbouring Belgrave.

Just below Belgrave and located right at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges is Belgrave South. Much like Belgrave Heights, this is a small township accommodating just over a thousand residents and rich in a range of parkland. Home to the 167 acre Baluk William Nature Reserve, Belgrave South is home to over 70 different species of Orchids and needless to say is quite the tourist attraction.
