Vermont Suburb and Real Estate Information
Vermont is an east/west oriented suburb east of Forest Hill. It northern boundary barely straddles Canterbury Road. The reserve for the proposed Healesville Freeway serves as its southern boundary. Mitcham and Boronia Roads diagonally slash across the suburb.
The nearest railway station is 2km away in Mitcham and three primary schools are located within Vermont's borders as is Vermont Secondary College. Largely a residential suburb, a pocket of business parks has grown along Rooks Road over the years and small strips of shops service residents day to day needs.
Several green areas are dotted about Vermont. The main ones are Campbell's Croft Reserve and Wetlands abutting the Healesville Freeway reservation has the Eastlink shared walking/riding trail. Walking trails are to be found in Bellbird Dell.
Vermont's population of nearly 10,000 lives in 4.3 km2, mainly in separate houses (94% versus the Melbourne average of 74%). Most housing is fully-owned. Real estate in Vermont is still reasonably affordable which creates solid demand for real estate in the area.
